Did you miss him? Ultros League is back for the third season! Whether you’re a returning player or brand new to the league, the time has come to sign up and join the fun. Sign-ups are now open, and season 3 will begin on Saturday, January 28th at 2:00PM ET.
What’s New for Season Three?
If you played Ultros League in Season One, you already know all the basics: 8 weeks, 4 tiers of competition, the strongest finishers get promoted to higher tiers while the lowest finishes risk demotion. If you’re new or looking for a refresher, check out the full rules and info right here.
New Version
Ultros League Season 3 will be the first major event in WC to run on the new 1.2 version of the randomizer. This brings several bugfixes, quality of life changes, and balance/gameplay changes. A rundown of most of these changes can be found here.
Not listed on this list is a brand new check for Worlds Collide: Narshe Moogle Defense. If you’ve found Mog, talking to Arvis in WoB Narshe will start the event. Check out the check’s entry on the updated Wiki to learn a bit more about what to expect from this check.
Don’t forget to update your bookmarks to the brand-new Worlds Collide website so you can start rolling 1.2 seeds now!
New Flagset
With a new version comes new flags! As with previous seasons, the goal of Ultros League is to provide a “standard” racing experience. To that end, we’ve made a few tweaks (and implemented some of the new flags) to refine that experience and provide an even more consistent, balanced race flagset.
At a high level, we’ve made the following changes from season 2:
- Objectives: Magitek Upgrade -> Complete Magitek Factory Finish check (new flag!)
- Commands: Magitek removed from Excluded Commands (was Excluded)
- Party: Rages – Start Rages 25-35 (was 20-30)
- Magic: Espers – Spells 2-5 (was 1-5)
- Magic: Espers – Bonus Chance 0.82 (was 0.68)
- Magic: Natural magic – Randomize Spells set to True (was set to False)
- Magic: Spells – MP Random Percent (75-125) (new flag!)
- Items: Start Tools to 1 (was 0)
- Items: No Breakable Rods set to False (was True)
- Items: Expensive Breakable Rods set to True (new flag!)
- Items: Expensive Super Balls set to True (new flag!)
There have been no other changes to the flags – scaling, character/esper requirements, stats, and everything else related to game mechanics is just the way you remember from season one and season two. That said, don’t forget that there have been a few balance and gameplay changes in 1.2 which will also have an impact on how the races play out!
The revised flags are available on the Info and Rules page, or check out this news post for even more details on what changed and why the changes were made. SeedBot‘s ultros league
preset has been updated on both the web and Discord bot. Start rolling your practice seeds now and enjoy all of the Bum Rushes with none of the migraines!
Divisions and Demotions
The exact number and size of divisions will be confirmed prior to the start of the season – we won’t know for sure what the league size will be until we have the full sign-ups to kick off the season.
